The Enactus team of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has won the 2026 Enactus National Competition, securing the University's seventh national title and a second consecutive championship.

The victory qualifies Enactus KNUST to represent Ghana at the 2026 Enactus World Cup in São Paulo, Brazil, from Nov. 16 to 19, where it will compete against leading university teams from around the world.

The annual competition brings together Enactus teams from universities across Ghana to showcase entrepreneurial and social innovation projects that create sustainable impact in their communities. Teams are assessed on their entrepreneurial leadership, innovation and measurable community impact.

At this year's competition, Enactus KNUST presented three innovation-driven projects: PeelInnova, AgriCycle and Sunawash, each designed to address environmental, agricultural and public health challenges through sustainable entrepreneurship.

PeelInnova converts pineapple and orange peel waste into affordable, environmentally friendly mosquito repellent products, including coils, sprays, air fresheners and soaps. The project seeks to reduce agricultural waste while helping combat mosquito-borne diseases through locally manufactured products.

AgriCycle is a circular economy initiative that transforms organic waste into bio-organic fertiliser to improve soil health, increase crop yields and promote sustainable farming.

Sunawash converts plantain peel waste into medicated and laundry soaps that are affordable, skin-friendly, environmentally responsible and effective in treating common skin conditions and removing stubborn stains.

The qualification follows another strong international performance in 2025, when Enactus KNUST won the national competition and advanced to the semi-finals of the Enactus World Cup in Thailand.

Building on that achievement, the team will be seeking to improve on its performance at this year's global competition in Brazil.
